RAD makes electric boating more accessible with RAD 40 finance leasing programme
British marine technology company RAD, has launched a new leasing programme for its RAD 40 electric outboard, making its complete propulsion package available from £995 per month.
The announcement aligns with the Southampton International Boat Show (SIBS), a key industry event that brings boat owners, marine businesses, and professionals to Southampton to discover the latest products, technologies, and developments in the industry.
With electric propulsion continuing to become an increasingly important part of the marine industry’s transition towards sustainable boating, RAD’s new leasing programme is designed to provide customers with a more accessible route to electrification, without the requirement for a large upfront investment. It provides predictable monthly payments which see customers own the product at the end of the term.
The finance lease provides a complete, turnkey package including the RAD 40 electric outboard, battery, steering wheel, throttle, control units and cables, configured to suit the individual vessel.
The RAD 40 delivers 40kW of continuous power, alongside near-silent operation, and zero-emission propulsion. The product was designed for a range of vessels, including RIBs, powerboats and other leisure and commercial craft, with short and long shaft options available to accommodate different vessel requirements.
By providing the propulsion system as an easy to install package, RAD aims to simplify the process of electrifying an existing or new boat and make the technology more accessible to a wider range of users.

With so much focus on innovation and the transition towards more sustainable propulsion, we felt the timing was right to announce our new RAD 40 leasing programme.
“We know that the upfront cost of moving to electric propulsion can be a significant barrier for boat owners and operators, even when they are interested in making the switch. Leasing gives customers another route into electric propulsion, allowing them to access a complete system through a predictable monthly payment rather than a significant initial investment. Our aim is to make electric propulsion a realistic and accessible option for more boat owners and operators. The RAD 40 provides the performance and capability they need, while the leasing programme gives them greater flexibility in how they pay for the technology”
Available over three, four or five years, the finance lease offers fixed monthly payments and customers will own the drive system outright at the end of the term. The starting price of £995 per month is subject to terms and conditions and based on the final system configuration required for each vessel.
