Fast charging electric batteries

Fast input. Big output.

RAD Propulsion provides the full turnkey solution for boatbuilders with long-lasting, dependable, and high-capacity electric batteries for your outboard. Our Lithium-Ion batteries are available in 21 kWh and 61 kWh sizes, to fit a variety of boat configurations and requirements – whether it be for commercial use or simply for boat enthusiasts to enjoy the waterways.

The advanced BMS (battery management system) ensures battery cells are kept in peak condition, reporting state of charge and cell health through the RADBus system. This ensures you have full visibility of the RAD battery status and can effectively manage energy use and efficiency in all scenarios.

Models

RAD 61 kWh battery pack

Large capacity for range and endurance, with recharging in under an hour thanks to the 400 Volt architecture and CCS DC fast charging. The 61 kWh battery is long and slender so that it can fit under the deck in the "V" of a typical powerboat hull. Up to four 61 kWh packs can be configured in parallel for an incredible 244 kWh of capacity, allowing for large capability as well as scalability. As such, the 61 kWh RAD battery is the perfect companion for commercial-purpose vessels that are powered for extended periods throughout the day, powering not only the propulsion system but also onboard systems like navigation and lighting.

RAD 21 kWh battery pack

Easy to fit in seats, consoles or under the deck. Our compact, high-density 21 kWh battery pack is the ideal option for almost any boat design. Its smaller size and weight are especially useful for recreational boating where the hull may not be able to accommodate a larger size, making the 21 kWh a better fit. The ability to add three additional matching expansion packs also results in sustained energy for your RAD drive system and up to 84 kWh of capacity.

Multiple configurations

Up to four battery packs of the same capacity can be configured in parallel, resulting in extended range and increased reliability. Multi-configuration also means that boats can be scaled as your needs change.

Battery status

Thanks to our RADBus digital control system, boat operators can view the health, charge status, range and endurance of their electric battery on the multifunction display via NMEA2000.

AC charging

Our RAD batteries offer various AC charging solutions for use with 16 A and 32 A shore power sockets. Our standard onboard AC charger offers charging rates up to 7kW but AC charging at up to 22 kW can be achieved via RAD’s range of onboard charging system

Advanced battery management

The sophisticated BMS meticulously monitors each cell, maintaining optimal performance and providing real-time updates on battery status and health via the RADBus network

DC fast charging

RAD batteries are fully compatible with CCS2 DC fast chargers and can be configured to your boat.

The electric advantage

What battery should I use for my electric outboard?

When it comes to choosing the right electric outboard battery, there is not a one size fits all approach. The ideal battery capacity depends on several factors such as desired boat speed, range and displacement. For shorter journey requirements a smaller battery will be optimal however if a longer range and higher speeds are desired then a higher capacity battery will be preferable.
