RAD Box – last blue mile, developing automated, clean, electric marine delivery.

Addressing the challenges of last-mile delivery in the UK

As roads become increasingly congested and air quality declines, this project aims to develop automated, clean, electric marine systems to complete the final stage of delivery on the water.

About the project

This is a six-month feasibility study to develop an innovative autonomous surface vessel to be used for last-mile delivery. By strategically utilising waterways, we seek to alleviate congestion, reduce CO2 emissions, and enhance air quality.

Our partners

A TRIG23 funded project to create the RAD Box, an on-water prototype that is highly scalable to complete the final stages of delivery.

Evidence based

The total market for UK delivery was valued at £14.6 billion in 2022 and is forecasted to grow to over £28.3 billion by the end of the decade. There is an opportunity to use the waterways in many inland and coastal areas which will significantly cut reliance on road and rail transport in the last mile delivery market. The RAD Box will enhance efficiency and sustainability in delivery logistics.
