RAD Propulsion, Zero Marine and RS Electric Boats to support Oxford and Cambridge 2025 Boat Race
12 April 2025 – RAD Propulsion, Zero Marine and RS Electric Boats are joining forces to support the prestigious Boat Race 2025. The companies will provide two Pulse 63 electric vessels, powered by RAD 40 drives, to serve as chase boats, marking the start of a new sustainable future for the event.
As the historic Boat Race embraces greener technology, RAD’s electric propulsion systems will be instrumental in ensuring a quieter, emission free race day environment. The Pulse 63, an all electric RIB, is powered by RAD’s cutting-edge RAD 40 electric drive system, offering superior efficiency, reliability, and performance.
With the backing of the Port of London Authority, the introduction of RAD powered electric vessels to the race sets a precedent for greater electrification on the Thames.

The zero-emission Pulse 63 vessels will be deployed on race day with a crew that includes skippers, umpires, and 247.tv live stream camera operators. They will provide essential race support, escorting the competing teams and ensuring seamless event operations.
